Japan's second distillery built in a location chosen by Masataka Taketsuru to create a more rugged spirit. The site is located close to the sea and has onsite coopers.
The Yoichi Distillery continues to adhere to techniques such as the use of coal-fired pot stills, and remains loyal to the whisky-making traditions dating back to its foundation. This whisky, stored and matured for 15 years or more in oak casks, is characterized by fruity, sweet nose and smooth, velvety palate.
This has now been discontinued due to the shortage of aged stock at Nikka.
